Ay - rackafratzin - men.

Probably right. Let's recall that CYA is not an art limited to the
good ole' Yew Ess of Ay.

And that engine sounds SWEET at 6K.

Well, based on the information you've provided, it won't be seeing
redline in first or second often. I'm just stubborn enough to keep
it set up the way it is - but I guess I better not push it too hard.

What a PIS**R!! It makes no sense at all to design a transmission
which can't even keep up with the design limits of the engine.

Boy, this convinces me - I will NEVER buy another Audi with an
automatic. This thing is a real Achilles' heel. I've seen the
clutches in it (trust me...) and they're only flat circles about 10"
in diameter but only about 3/8" wide with friction material on them.
They don't LOOK like they'd generate enough friction to move a fat
kid on a go-kart!!!!!!

So it looks like if we slushbox owners want to keep the trannies in
these cars, we should back off the idea of performance mods, keep the
rpm down on shifts, and be scrupulous about running synthetic ATF and
maintaining the fluid levels in tranny and transaxle (the transaxle
part applies to ALL Audis...).

I think I need cold beer....perhaps in quantity.
