How Many RPM??

Well, (sip, aaaahhhhh) I'm back from my tranny/rpm test drive.

As I expected, Audi's maximum stated speeds for auto trannies to
shift from 1-2 (43 mph) and 2-3 (78 mph) both use 5200-5300 rpm
as a shift point. Evidently that's:

a) Where "they" feel the power curve is such that it's advantageous
to upshift, or;
b) Where the engine power curve starts to exceed the transmission's
ability to "hold things together", or;
c) Where "they", in their infinite Deutsches wisdom, have decided
that God im Himmel wants us to shift. (This seems the most likely to
me...)

After all, lest we forget, there's a right way, a wrong way, and an
Audi way. (I can just guess what's going to follow after that kind of
straight line...)

We now return you to your reg'ly scheduled Miller time.
