Absolutely, stay away from UPS if crossing the border. I paid dearly when 
I used these guys.  BTW how did you get your parts? Did your friend mail 
them?  When I purchased a camera over the net, the guy mailed it - it 
showed up at my house without customs intervening (i.e. not gst to pay, 
or extra fees).
