I agree about the rear end.  My mama once said "if you cant say anything 
nice about someone/something--keepa yo' mouth shut. Rear looks too 
generic, nothing distinctive at all.

I belive that you are correct re "boot."  If I remember correctly, 
"bonnet" is the thing that the engine sits under.  Which of course 
raises, the eternal question, in a rear engine car (rg: 911) doe shte 
boot become the bonnet and the bonnet the boot?
