Radar Detectors & Blinding Lights...

I've had this saved in my file since March of this year, never really had an
incling to do anything about it untill last night. This is an exerpt of the
post...

Car and Driver had done some tests (last year, I think) that found that it
was actually more effective to "blind" the laser gun with high powered lights
(i.e. Hella Rallye 2000, etc) covered with in infrared filter. With the filter
on, the lights were not visible to the human eye, but could put out
sufficient light similar enought to the laser to greatly reduce its ability
to get an accurate speed reading. According to C&D's tests, you had a better
chance with this approach than with most laser detectors.

Anyone ever try this? Are the lights really effective? Also, I want a remote
mounted radar/laser detector. Suggestions anyone? YES, I got a ticket last
night. Driving 63 in a 45 (six lane road by the way,) which incidentally was
the same speed everyone else on the #$%^ing road was doing, but I happened to
be in the lane closest to Bozo. Bozo didn't seem to care that there was a
State Trooper two cars behind me doing the same speed as everyone else was, but
then again Bozo didn't pull the Trooper over and give him a ticket... Anyhow,
said looser (Bozo) made a large deal about telling me that LASER had given him
my exact sped (I had no idea how fast I was goin, but he didn't ask and I
didn't say anything, I guess he just wanted to impress me with his toy.) Back
to the real reason for this post, where does one find these Rallye 2000 lights?
And the infared filters? I'm VERY curious about this stuff, TIA for any ideas
on where to get this stuff, and if it's any good.
