While those are problems, every car has design problems with various
subsystems. What I wanted to focus on was the stupidity of these
little trim pieces, for which there is no excuse. Adhesive technology
has been adequate to stick gear pattern plates on knobs forever since
I was in diapers. There's no reason a $35,000 car can't use such glue.
Likewise gas pedals; they've been around forever. Why doesn't this
one stay together?

I've put twice as many miles on cars worth one quarter as much, and
never had such problems.
