Rear Shock Info???

I'm in the process of deciding on rear shocks for 87 5KcsTQ sedan with
190,000mi-using as daily driver.

I've gotten all types of responses from local parts suppliers from "you don't
want them, they're too expensive", to "nobody makes them". Withj prices
ranging from $34 to $250 each. Some of the questions I get asked (and I'd
like to know) are:

Are the originals gas charged?
Can they be replaced with non-gas charged?
Are they "spring seat shocks?"
Are they same as on non-quattro model?

Can anyone give an accurate description of the type of rear shock on this
vehicle?

I've also gotten price of $95 ea for Boge Turbo Gas from Anderson Bros.-any
comments?

Install to be done by retired prof. mechanic/neighbor. Any install tips
needed?
