Re: Contemplating '89 200TQ wgn

Price definitely is high. Someone posted a 91 TQW for $13.9 last
week, and that is just as rare, and more desirable (faster). I did not
see it, of course, but it should give you an idea.

My experience is that Edmunds gives and indication of value, but
dealers use the NADA books, which are more precise and up to date.
Call your bank or credit union and ask for the NADA figures.

We love our 90 TQW, especially since it got the IA brain and spring
remodelled. It is a great car The 89 is very similar, except no
airbag. The 91s are essentially S4s, much higher hp, etc. All three
-89-90-91 TQW- are relatively rare, but if you are willing to pay $16,
     I would hold out until I found a '91.

I have my sights on an '89 200 TQ wagon. Haven't seen it
yet, but it has 48K miles and the seller is asking nearly
$16K for it. Based on the Edmund's Web page, I think a more
reasonable price is about $13,500. Any opinions (either
on the car or the price) ? Any tips are appreciated. I have
an '85 5KT, an so am familiar with some maladies, but any
hints on problems specific to this car would be welcome.

        Thanks!

        -Arun

PS: I think someone said this car's pretty rare ... how rare?
