Re: O2 Sensors - general

A good standard description of O2 sensors and their automotive
application may be found in Bentley's book on fuel injection. The book
used to be (is?) about $30 and explains how Bosch systems work and how to
maintain them.

with regard to gas mileage, it depends on the model and year, neither of
which I saw in your post. I get around 27 highway, 23 in town with an 86
5000 with a stick. The slushbox lowers the numbers by 3-4 mpg.
