I just "ordered" an A4 (I had the dealer search for one that was coming
in that was what I was looking for. To order one would be about a 2-3
month process minimum.) and found the dealer quite willing to deal on
the car. My guess, from looking at Edmunds guide, is that the dealers
markup is about 14 - 15% to get to MSRP. ($100 wholesale would $114
MSRP) Although I leased the car (which shouldn't matter to the dealer,
and I told them initially I would probably buy the car when I was
negotiating the price) their markup on "wholesale" was a little less
than 5%. I thought it was a pretty good price considering the car is
brand new and they are moving them pretty fast around the country.
