General

I am grateful to all those members who responded to my recent enquiries about
the Audi A4 "Quattro". The comments I received were most helpful although
it was somewhat depressing to learn how buyers in the UK appear to be "ripped
off".

Moreover, it was annoying to discover that the 2.8 V6 is the engine
option supplied in the USA whereas we have to be content here with the 150 hp
2.6 V6 until, I have heard, sometime next year - it is rumoured that a 190hp
2.8 will then become available in the UK.

In general, I think that the group exists for "real" Audi enthusiasts and that
it has little relevance to a middle-aged person who no longer has much
interest in high performance. My present car is alleged to reach 60mph in
6.4 secs and is said to have a top speed of 150 but I bought it for the 4WD,
ABS and claimed safety features, not for its 200+hp turbo engine. (It is
noisier than I would wish and that is the reason why I am buying the A4).

All you fellows will get older one day and end up just where I am! Meanwhile,
good luck to you - may your shadows never grow shorter.

Thank you for your agreeable and friendly company.

John G. Evans.
