Edmunds give you a reasonable guide, but there can be quite a lot
of difference reflecting regional and local market conditions.

A better, regional guide, is the orange colored Blue Book, put out montly
by NADA, which every bank and credit union has...you can always call your
bank, tell them you are out shopping, and they will usually look up
the car for you on the spot... remember to make sure they go over the
options and hi or low mileage adjustment. If you are dealing with
a dealer, be upfront and ask to see theirs - its kind of an agressive
move that positions you well for bargaining (but beware of them not giving
you the current month - last months issue might be $25 or $100 in their
favor).

The real holy grail of price guides is the NADA Black Book, put out weekly.
This usually sits in the hip pocket of the used car manager at a dealer,
and ONCE I got one to show it to me. It is only a trade in guide, giving
prices for cars in five different conditions, from poor to near perfect.

If you are buying from a dealer, unless the car is perfect, presume they
paid less than the NADA Blue Book trade-in value, and work your deal
from that price.
