Hello Audites,

I am planning my winter projects for the 86 4kq being raced in autox.
Next year I am hoping to win the Nationals.  I heard that many people
were looking for me in Topeka.  I guess I have made some people
nerrrrrvous.

I plan on replacing the springs and suspension bushings.  What is the
best source for these parts?  Are there variances between the years?

WHY REPLACE THE SPRINGS? IF THE STOCK ONES ARE JUST A LITTLE TIRED
THEN YOU'LL GET SOME SMALL AMOUNT OF SEMI-LEGAL LOWERING. BUSHINGS
DO NEED TO BE STOCK. CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS ARE THE MOST CRITICAL.
DUNNO IF ONE YEAR MIGHT BE STIFFER, I DOUBT IT THOUGH.

I also need to replace all the filters in the car other than the air
filter (K&N already in there).  What should I replace and where should
I get it?  Fuel, etc.?

FUEL FILTER IS CRITCAL. I HAVE GREAT LUCK WITH PAP ON THIS STUFF.
MIGHT ALSO WANT TO REPLACE THE PRE-FILTER, I CANNOT REMEMBER
IF THE 4KQs HAVE A PRE-FILTER, I KNOW THE ur-Q DOES.....

I also need to replace the rods that adjust the rear toe.. they are
seized.  What is this part called and where do I find it?

REAR TIE RODS. YOU MAY BE ABLE TO FREE THEM UP IF YOU TAKE THEM OFF
AND SOAK THEM IN PENETRATING OIL. THIS WORKED FOR MY 4KQ RACER.
LINDA AT CARLSEN HAS 'EM AT A REASONABLE PRICE. (<$100 EACH)

I am also considering the replacement of the fuel injectors and
possibly a valve job.  Any insight as to the effects of either?

A VALVE JOB COULD'T HURT. I THINK I WOULD HAVE THE STOCK INJECTORS
CLEANED AND BLUEPRINTED. TRI-ELECTRODE PLUGS.

Any other suggestions?  I would appreciate any advice.

EXPERIMENTATION WITH DIFFERENT FRONT BAR SETUPS AND TIRES &
PRESSURES WILL YIELD GOOD RESULTS/$. I WOULD LOOK TO TIRES
AND SUSPENSION SETUP AS THE BEST WAY TO GET FASTER LEGALLY,
AND OF COURSE THE NUT BEHIND THE WHEEL. PERHAPS LIGHTER WHEELS.
UPPER BODY STRENGTH TRAINING, ARMS, CHEST. SERIOUSLY.
ALL THE HP STUFF WILL BE VERY INCREMENTAL AND SMALL IMPROVEMENT/$.
