First try if the light works by manually (under the car) engaging the diff lock.
No no, the car does not need to drive during this operation :)
But sometimes you do need to rotate one wheel to get it to engage.
Now if the light doesn't come on either your light doesn't work or the
sensor which sends the signal is faulty. Also clean the electrical
connectors.
If the light does come on you need to look at the vacuum lines and or
switch. You can switch vacuum lines at the switch to check the switch
itself first. Now the light of the rear diff should come on in position 1.
