EH??? This isnt true. I have been using SS relays in my cars for years. 
They are more durable, weatherproof, vibration proof etc (more expensive) 
.  I just added a pair for my Rallye lights. They make them for both AC 
and DC. Be sure to use the right ones.

BTW, the DC ones use anything from .3 to 48V to switch, which makes them 
ideal for auto use.
