THe outside air intake is under the hood above the firewall. Take off
that thin cheesy black plastic cowl cover with the metal clips, and
underneath is the air intake. On the passenger side (I think) is the
vertical 'screen' where the air gets sucked in. If this screen is gone or
loose (like mine was) you get in leaves, dirt, trees, small hooved
animals etc...
Re attach the grill and even put in a finer one if you want.
