While I agree that a newsgroup would increase the noise... a moderated group 
would give us the best of both worlds (IMHO) but who would moderate??? a 
large job no doubt!!!

Every once in a while, someone asks why this is not a newsgroup.  I just
visited rec.autos.vw and found a mountain of irrelevant nonsense, some of
which was offensively racist.  Whoopie.

Three cheers for our list operator!  Newsgroups are clearly second-best
in my opinion.
