Re: O2 Sensor reset button

The O2 reset buttoon is located on the upper right hand corner behind
the auto check display module of the behind instrument panel. On my 85' 5000s
there is a mark says 'OXS' on the back of the instruement panel. If you find
that you'll will see a square hole with two copper pins parallel to each other
and underneath there is another tiny metal slide switch. You need to use a
small screwdriver to push that tiny metal slide lever towards the center of
the auto check display module and then you push the two copper pins down.
The way it works is the at around every 30,000 miles the speedometer trip
the little slide lever, it pops out and the two little copper pin pops
up and complete the a permanent circuit for the OXS light.

I have done it 3 time since I bought my car at 50,000 miles and now it had
125,000 miles on it. One thing you might want to do is undo the speedometer
cable at the transmission end before yoy attempt to pull he instrutment
panel. There is very little slack on the cable, and you break the plastic
bayonet connector on the speedometer cable on the speedometer end. You may
also want mark all the wire connectors which side they are facing up although
some are pretty self evident. There are a total of 4 ribbon kind of connectors
one 2 wires connector and one 1 wire connector. The speedometer cable always
have a tendency to come off as you are pushing it back into its pod.

I was told by my friend that I can just remove that light bulb so it you will
never see it again. Then again when you ever try to sell your car some day
some buyer may notice your OXS light is not working when it should come on
briefly at startup. I guess you can always buy the bulb back on before you
sell it.
