This may not seem intuitive, but many switches become unreliable below a
certain current level.  That's why gold plating is often used on very low
current contacts.  I would say 2 mil is probably below that point (I forget
the exact numbers), so if I were going to drive a SS relay with that low a
gate current, I would probably add some external parallel resistance to
bring the load up to at least 30 ma.
