Gotchas with changing FWD clutch?

Hi Guys,

Sorry this is not Audi-related but I figure lots of people here have owned VWs
before Audis and may be able to help. Out of the kindness of my heart, I've
offered to change the clutch in my sister's '88 VW Fox GL. I think it's a
1.6L. Other than dropping the transmission, what else needs to come off? I
assume CV-joints but are there any exhaust or suspension components which are
in the way? I've done 1 clutch job in an '88 RX7 and the exhaust and diff.
tube had to come off. Actually, this is gaining experience to change my
**Audi** clutches (Obl. ref) if and when they go, though it's a different
layout. I'm going to check the Haynes manual also but they have a habit of
leaving out imp. steps. I plan on changing pressure plate, clutch disc,
throw-out and pilot bearings and resurface the flywheel if nec. Also need
advice on correctly adjusting clutch cable for a new clutch.

Any advice on special tools and part sources will be greatly appreciated!

(P.S. I don't have access to rec.autos.vw so that won't help)
