'87 TQ in a 4 Wheel Drift...
Had my TQ in it's first four wheel drift yesterday on the way home on the
beltway. Came around the same on-ramp that I usually do, off of Route 7 and
onto 495, at the speed I usually do (about 45.) Catch was, it was raining. Oh
yeah, and they're digging a pond or something inside the on-ramp (the thing
basically does a real tight 300 degree turn off a bridge) so there was mud all
across the road, and Jersey-walls on both sides. I came around the turn, in my
usual "I hate this commute" attitude, in fourth gear, when all of a sudden the
ass-end lets loose. SO, the nose of my car is now aimed at the right Jersey
wall, with the rear bumper drifting uncomfortably close to the left
Jersey-wall. Panic struck in, I envisioned winding up front bumper against one
wall and rear bumper against the other, but I just kinda left my right foot as
far into the gas as I had been, and wound up doing a killer merge into traffic
at a cool 60 MPH. All luck, no skill involved what-so-ever on my part, but the
M3 I slid out infront of sped up to pass me with a big smile on his face and a
thumbs-up sign... Sucker actually thought I meant to do that...
