New "tars" for the ol' dog

Since I spent a long wonderful day at Nelson Ledges Road Course a few
weeks ago, I destroyed my two front Yokohama RS's. I got more seat time
than I had ever dreamed, but the tires told the tale. I might note, this
was the end of year two for the Yok's, with about 4 open track events and
who knows how many autocrosses on them. The've served me well.

So, with a distinct lack of green in my pockets, as always, I set out on
a search for some new tires for the little 4K, so I could finish off the
autocross season in style.(one more to go!)

A friend donated a set of used Goodyear GS CS (don't laugh), so I mounted
them up and I going to run them soon. Those are some weird tires. They
have just a "hair" of tread molded into them, so that after a few miles
of break in, only two large grooves remain, making the tire really close
to a real slick. We'll see how they do, they've got some track rubber
built up on them, so I'm gonna scrub them in tomorrow, if the weather
holds up. Ever since I got them, it's been pouring in Ohio. Is this a sign?

BTW, the Yok's are 205/55-14, and the Goodyear's are 195/60-14. This
should improve the gearing a bit, as I commonly run out of 2nd gear at
the end of longer straights on a big autocross course.
