A QCUSA Safety seminar where we rent the racetrack for a few days
and have fun learning how to drive safely (and of course fast)

QCUSA members.

$250 for the weekend

QCUSA events are held around the nation. Two or Three each year are held
at BIR, one at Gratten in Michigan, Lime Rock, Portland, and other
places including the Virginia City Hill Climb. I'm not sure what the
schedule for next year is. The one in Brainerd at the beginning of
October is the National Event. Others are (please correct me if I'm
wrong) regional events. They are so much fun!!!
I would like to clarify what a QCUSA event is. Maybe I should start at
what it ISN'T. It is NOT a race. There is no door-to-door races, we do
not teach people how to out-brake their competion into a turn. What we
do teach is knowing the limitations of the car and the driver in extreme
situations. How fast your car can stop, how quickly you can turn, how to
take a turn the best way, etc. We also teach how to drive safely.
Every once in a while we get an SCCA jockey who thinks that he (or she)
is hot stuff. While they may be an excellent race car driver, that is
not what these events are all about. They are NOT about showing off your
ability to spin your car around in the grass or do a "J" turn in the
middle of the track or how easily you can pass someone in the turn.
We have a lot of rookie drivers who come to these events and want
instructors to show them how to handle their cars and have fun on a race
track where they don't have Police or oncoming traffic to worry about.
There are a lot of instructors who can help those people have fun.
We teach to the level of the student. We don't burden our less
experienced drivers about heal-toe, trail braking, and some of the other
more advanced techniques. That is taught as a driver gets more
experienced and more comfortable with their car (and themselves).
If you would like more information, you can E-Mail me and I will get it
into the right hands.
Sorry for the bandwidth, but I feel strongly about this.

'84 4KSQ - 160K Not real fast, not real slow, just kinda half-fast.
A slow 4K on the track is a lot more fun than a broken mega-horse
turbo with it's hood up. DNFs are expensive (and no fun).
