Thanks for the follow up. I spoke with my trusted mechanic and he quoted me
a price of less than $300 to fix, including $100 for the part...since I'm
not overly excited about spending a day under my dash getting coolant all
over everything...and could spend that time setting up my web server...I
think I'll invest in professional help. 
 
He also mentioned the wisp of smoke...I may do it prior to this, since it's
my wife's car and scheduling her out of it for a day takes some doing...
