Hmmmm. I do this every time I start my RA IV 455 HO. Crank till you see
some oil pressure then hit the fool pump switch and let her light off.
Have you monitored the oil pressure to see if you are getting any oil
pressure at all? You might have to crank for awhile to get oil up into
the head. So long as you have oil pressure while cranking it should be
safe to start her.....
