5 cyl turbo engine talk



Dave,

Even if the reference pin were 2 degrees out, the fully electronic ignition
system should only use it as a reference, and use the knock sensor(s) to
determine the amount of advance/retard required relative to the pin. Unless it
was way out I would have thought it should be OK. You might get the ECU
complaining about the timing going out of tolerance though, fooling it into
thinking the fuel octane rating was too low, but I would expect timing to
vary by more than 2 degrees from nominal simply due to air temperature and
altitude
etc.
