Coolany question.
Greetings and salutatiuons:
Two questions about my '84 4ks... First, I noticed a bit of gooey-old
antifreeze on the bottom of the water pump and figured it to be a leak in
the bearing. I bought a replacement pump, but haven't installed it yet
because A) I haven't been any more residue from the drain hole and b) I'm
not loosing coolant. Should I wait untill I hear the thing scream to
replace it? I'm not even entirely sure the bearing is going, whddya think?
Second, and possibly related... I'm sure you all recognize that 'Log Cabin
Syrup' scent of burning/evaprating coolant... I have noticed that smell
from my engine often enough after harder driving (most of the time) but
cannot find any evidence of leaking coolant, or overflow. The coolant
itself is over 1 yr old (Next on my list, no flames please) any ideas what
this could be?
Bob D' I have always used Bosch OEM style plug wires ($45-50) and while
finding that I have to replace them more often due to wear, I can't say
there is any notable improvement by spending $200 on the extra-snazzy brands.
Thanks,
Chris
