RE: Oil Warning Light Comes On
I assume you have only the idiot light oil pressure sensor and not
an additional one for an oil pressure gauge.
I have both in my '89 100 and the idiot light sensor failed with the
symptom being that the light came on intermittently. The pressure gauge
told me all was well.
The local dealer offered to replace the "dynamic oil pressure switch" for
$150. I just disconnected it instead, over a year ago, at 60K miles.
This is only one in a seemingly endless series of electrical malfunctions
I've had the pleasure of exploring.
One question: Why do so many things like this go bad on Audi's, and if the
parts are such junk why do they cost so much? I've had many cars and never
seen things like this go bad. Hey, I had a '78 Pontiac on which a
replacement water pump cost $15, it's oil sensor and the like never
went bad in 150 K miles.
