Interestingly enough, my father's '82 Coupe shares a whole slew of
components with my sister's '87 VW Jetta.  I found this out when she
needed her wipers working, and I was able to swap my father's wiper
relay with hers.  The cruise control stalks are identical, as well,
and some other parts which I cannot remember.
My '85 GT uses different components, though (at least the oil filters
are the same for all cars, which makes buying packs of 10 economical).
