A warning about Tire Size Calculator...

Hi. I applaud the industry with which Dirk created his service page,
but I want to warn anyone that they cannot trust this output because:

The nominal definition of a 245-45-16 tire implies the full radius
of the tire is 16"/2 + 45% of the 245 mm. width. (or that the diameter
is 16" plus 45% of the 245 mm. width, I forget which...)

The fatal flaw in any calculator is that the '245' and '45' numbers
are APPROXIMATE.

THE REAL WIDTH AND HEIGHT DIMENSIONS OF A 245-45-16 TIRE VARY BY UP TO
AN INCH BETWEEN DIFFERENT MANUFACTURERS AND EVEN VARY BETWEEN MODELS
OF A SINGLE MANUFACTURER.

Call BFG for a printout of the dimensions of their BFG R1 tires. The
looseness of correlation between nomenclature and actual dimensions
is obvious. 800-722-3234
