Power locks on 4000s Quattro

Ok,  I'm a newbie to the Audi ownership, and I love it, and I I have a real
question for you.

On my 4000s, when I lock the driver's side door from the outside, all of the
other locks will soemtimes lock, and sometimes they won't.  I understand that
these are pnuematic controls.  Where do I start looking for the problem?

Also, the swithc and threfore control of my outside mirror adjustments does
not work.  Does any one know if there is a common problem with this?  And,
again, where do I start looking?
