Anti-knock Sensor
;What does the anti-knock sensor do and what does it's light represent?
A knock sensor is basically a little microphone bolted to your block. As
low-tech as it sounds...it detects incipient knocking the same way you
do...by listening for high frequency sound patterns coming from the engine.
It then tells the engine to retard the timing.
I think that the light means it has retarded to timing all the way and is
still detecting knocking or has detected a problem with the sensor.
This way, your engine always has optimal timing. Knock sensor cars ofter do
get more power from high octane gas. I know mine does.
