In all fairness, I think Scott and Eric push their cars well beyond what
any street-only operated car is going to see. You just cannot do very
many back-to-back 140 to 60 MPH slams on the street. Stock OEM brake
systems are likely the most marginal piece of HW when moving from the
street to the track and need appropriate amounts of special attention to
prepare them for track abuse, and I do mean abuse. Street brake usage in
no way even approaches the abuse they see on the track. One 80 to 0 is
about the worst real-world abuse you will see, OK one 130 to 0 for our
fortunate Euro friends. Stock Audi brakes are already head-and-shoulders
above most of the other mediocre crap out there on the street.....but not
that there's no room for sound $/perf improvement. A set of high $$$ pads
can be totally roasted in one track session but at the same time MMs can
provide >100,000 miles of far-better-than-stock perf on the street with
no problems. Two very different worlds, both are valid.
