dashboard bulb

Being bored and unemployed, today I took apart the dashboard of my '86 Coupe
GT just to get all that dirt and lint out.  While looking through the mess of
wires back there I noticed a bulb wired up and just sittin in there.
 Everything on my dash lights up (its the digital kind) so what's up with
this bulb?  I could not figure out how to turn it on either.  What'dya
suppose it's for? Anyone? Anyone?
