re: Noisy Fuel Pump

I replaced the pump in my 87 5kCSTQ a couple of months ago at 115k miles.
It had been noisy (whiney buzzing sound) for more than a year, but did it
pretty much all of the time. Don't remember it getting worse in the winter.
I finally decided to change it when people would turn and stare at the car
when I drove by. Now all is blessed silence.

I did have occasions when the pump would suddenly start making a very loud
noise, and the fuel volume to the engine dropped noticeably, causing it to
stumble. It would stop and return to the regular whine/buzz when I turned
the ignition off and then back on.

For what it's worth.
