A6Q cd changer - new info

A while back there was a thread discussing how to retrofit an aftermarket
cd changer to the existing Bose system (using the installed changer cable 
and connector).  Well, a person named Mark at Peripherals, a company in the 
business of making adapters for such applications, informed me that there is 
no cheap solution.  Peripherals was working with Audi to come up with a 
solution, but they found that the discontinued Blaupunkt changer used
a control protocol which is not compatible with other cd changers, and
protocal translator would be required to allow aftermarket units to work 
with the Bose head unit.  I.e., not cost-effective.  Based on this information, 
Peripherals has decided not to develop an adapter for the 95 A6.

I guess this means that the only alternatives are 1) go the RF modulator
route, or 2) replace the head unit...and maybe the whole system.
