Sounds just like my problem on my 83 QTC. I too have intercepted the
control wire for the cold start valve, and can get it to start by
manipulating it. My thremo time switch appears to be working. I tested it
with a ohm meter when cold (short) and hot (>150 ohms) so I think it is ok.
Talked to a bunch of experts this last weekend, at the PIR event, and a lot
of them suggested it could be leaky injectors. Makes sense, as the car sits
there it slowly gets flooded, and continues to be that way until all the
pressure in the system is gone, which could take a few hours.
I'm going to pull mine and checkem. ---JCG
