Graydon,

Thanks for the explanation of "heel and toe".  I have been doing this for
years (since my 1950 chevy, when you needed too!) but never referred to it as
such.  I also leave out the brake part alot just tapping the throttle to
match the rpms when downshifting and then apply the brakes so it's, more
simply put, just "two footing" the downshift.

Another quick question - my quattro, when cold, is difficult to place into
1st gear.  Would REDLINE be appropriate in the transmission to help solve
this?
