A4 test drive



Here are a few reposts from a few weeks ago! Hope you enjoy!

I was fortunate to get to test drive an A4 myself.  A auto-x friend here in 
Seattle area just got one, and he let me drive it!  Most definitely 
awesome!!!  I love to try racing this car.  Felt like it would handle like a 
BMW, with the awesome traction of AWD.

the truth, I thought that the Audi V6 was an excellent engine.  I would 
always like more power (that's a moral imperative) but I thought it made 
good torque, had a good sound, and was very smooth.  I would LOVE that 
engine in my '86 5KCSTQ!  Does anyone know if it will fit?  Then I'd 
turbo it!
	I also liked the transmission.  It shifted very nicely.

Glad to hear that I am not the only one who "likes" the V6.  In point of
fact, I just purchased an Audi A4 Quattro with a 5 speed manual transmission
(talk about a smooth shifter) and found the perfromance more than
satisfying.  I also agree with your comment that one always wants more
power/torque -- if the A4 did o to 60 in 7.0 seconds as opposed to 7.8
seconds, there would still be people wanting to do 0 to 60 in 6.2 seconds!
That is human instinct!

I've heard most of those comments before.  I believe the acceleration 
is fine.  It's not great, but if I wanted pure acceleration I'd get a 
Mustang Cobra.
