Ragz

Picked up a coupla magazines this afternoon. On advice of someone on the
list, I went in search of Turbo magazine and found it at Wal Mart. Scott
Lampkin's S4 is Beeeeeautiful. I love the hood, Scott! It's a really
good article, although 6 pages would've been nice. When you decide to
move on, please let me at least make a bid! I'll sell something! BTW
Scott, do you have access to the pictures featured in the article? I'd
love to get a 20 X 30 poster of the one on the bottom of page 89.

The other magazine I got today was Automotive Engineering. It's
published by Society of Automotive Engineers. I get a free subscription
with membership. There's a very extensive article on High Intensity
Discharge headlights (uses S4 as one example) and Gas Discharge
Headlights (S6 as example) vs Halogen. Very technical informative 5 page
article - someone asked about these headlights earlier.

Also, there's a paragraph and photo on the "Frugal A8" - the new 3.7L.
"Power output is 172KW at 5500 RPM, with peak torque of 315 Nm at 2700
RPM, but 310 Nm are available from 2500 to 4700 RPM." and "Engine speed
at 100 km/h in fifth gear is only 1860 RPM. Performance includes a 0-100
km/h time of 8.7 seconds" - thats with a 5-speed Tiptronic. I would have
converted all the figures if I had my HP handy. Of course y'all on the
other side of the pond will doubtless be pleased.

There's also a page on the new 3.2L M3 for next year that has a very
interesting "...double VANOS (variable, infinite camshaft adjustment and
control, both on intake and outlet sides) system." If you're into really
technical stuff, Automotive Engineering is a good subscription to have.
And they appear to be fond of Audi. Biggest problem - $72 for 12 issues.
