Bose Base, A6 Weight, S6 cost, V8 5 speed.
RE: Mike LaRosa, asking about the base on Bose stereo systems.
Mike, I have the Bose system in my A6 and am VERY disappointed for
the very
reason you mentioned: Way too much base! I have the base turned way down
and the treble turned way up just to get a crisp sound. I'm also
disappointed that there is no left-right adjust. All this for only $700
extra....
RE: Quattro vs FWD Weight.
Autoweek (Jan 1995) lists the A6Q at 3726 (test weight) while Car and
Driver (April
1995) claims 3627 (curb weight). Anyone have the A6 non-quattro weight?
(And why
the 100 lbs difference between these magazine weights!)
RE: S6 selling price.
Autoweek (Nov. 20, 1995) has a nice piece on the S6. What knocked me for
a loop
was the test price of $48,385 but the price buyers paid was $31,700 -
$42,000, with the
AVERAGE at $34,878. Can this be right? Is the AVERAGE discount $14K?
RE: 1991 V8 5-speed for sale.
Last week a low -milage 1991 V8 5 speed was listed in the Washinton Post.
Just
thought I'd mention this since a thread about manual V8 ran awhile ago... If
anyone
wants for info, I'll pull out the ad and send you the numbers. (No, it isn't
mine.)

Subject: Rear Fog Lights (was Rear Lights)
While we are on the subject, just what is that switch on my dash
supposed to do? I know European spec cars are required to have these
to reduce the risk of rear ending in low
visibility...but what are they - brighter red (running) lights?
I see no difference at night - are they just for daytime use (never
looked at them in daylight with the switch on...) or did US spec cars
get the switch but no groovy lights, thanks to the DOT?
