After closer examination of the article in Automotive Engineering, the S4 
isn't mentioned by name.  A picture of the S4 is at the head of the 
article named "Anatomy of high-intensity discharge headlamps".  However, 
the HID's are said to be on the A8.  Also, the GDL's (Gas Discharge) are 
on the EUROPEAN MARKET S6.
