Sam,
I had the same problems on my 86 4kCSQ. The left rear window worked from
one switch, but not the other. I took both out, swapped them and its been
good for six years now. Go figure. I believe European car had an artice
a few months ago about replacing the glass or motor on a 4k, yours should
be similar (I hope).
I have the same noise as you do (I think). I know that mine is a CV joint
waving adios (per inspection when I changed the bearings. I purchased two
new CV joints from German Parts and Restoration for $125 each, grease,
boots, clamps, etc... included. They recommended I upgrade on grease to
Swepco or Redline, which I did for about ten dollars more. Installation
was $50 for each CV joint, which is pretty good.
I suppose it is possible for the noise to be a bearing, but I didn't get
that noise with mine, just the CV joints made that noise (bearings tend to
"roar" when they are going).

If I'm getting real good at fixing a lot of stuff on my car because I've
done it before, does that mean I should keep my car because It is new
again? Or am I getting old?
