The latest is that the 5 Touring (Touring is the designation for a wagon) is
being
discontinued in the US (lack of sales) and the 3 is
Euro only (anticipated lack of sales due to 1970's 2002 Touring experience).
The 3 series you might be thinking of is the 318 ti (4 banger) a 2 door
hatchback which looks like an Acura and sells for just about 20k, available
since last summer. The weird thing is the 318 ti, rather than the 325 Touring
(more of a station wagon) is the actual next generation 2002 Touring (2 door
hatchback- Euro only) which was one of the few bombs BMW had in the 70's.
The M5 conversion is being offered by Bavarian Performance in Berkeley, CA.
It is a clean installation as the factory offers the M5 Touring as a
European model. Bavarian Performance pastes on the M5 factory parts.
