Bentley electrics

From: Joe Yakubik
Subject: Bentley wiring diagrams

Over the past week or so I've seen a fair amount of mail talking about
electrical problems, lights, DRLs, melted relays, etc. In one post Michael
Sullivan asked about where to get color wiring diagrams. The Bentley manual has
a really detailed set of wiring diagrams (BTW for the 89-91 100,200 the
electrics only is relatively small phone book sized). However, the Bentley
manual does not always reflect reality. Before jumping into the electrics and
pulling plugs and wires make sure (ie take notes or something) that you know
where each connector goes. Do not count on the really detailed book to identify
your specific configuration. Review your optional equipment first, find the
wires, figure out what you're doing, compare to other similar models (ie sedan
to wagon) only then pull the plug. This should be mostly common sense, but...

PS I'm not bashing Bentley (well, not really), I think they're the best car
manual published and everyone who works on their own VW/Audi should buy one.
