Although I carry a fairly complete set of tools with me on trips (as well as
a couple of gallons of water ... this IS the desert, after all!), I think it
is much more important to carry spare PARTS since most every repair shop has
tools but not every one has an Audi waterpump, timing belt, alternator belt,
radiator hoses, heater valve, etc. in stock or readily available at 2am!

I've managed to pack all of my parts/tools neatly in-and-around the spare so
they don't rattle around or get lost.  Don't forget to add flares and a fire
extinguisher either (both times I've had a car catch fire, I didn't have one
with me ... makes for a few nervous moments, I assure you).
