The squeal problem is mostly as you lighten the pressure just before coming
to a stop--at higher brake pressures, there is no noise--but that's also an
uncomfortable way to drive on the street!
Pagid, like many other pad manufacturers, makes several compounds. I don't
know which compound you're using--I have the RS4-2, the blue pads--they also
make a black, a yellow, an orange, and probably more. Each has a different
application--I chose mine based on discussions with Ned.
BTW, Textar, Jurid, and now Pagid have been OEM suppliers for Porsche in the
past, too, but that really doesn't mean a whole lot here, because those cars
weigh around 3000-3200#...Similarly, keep in mind that you're comparing
quantum gl5 vs. 200q. while both have common roots, there's a world of
difference between the cars, not the least of which is weight (my 200q is
pushing 4000#, and is using smaller brakes than originally installed--your
quantum is probably closer to 3000#), and speed potential (I've seen
125-130mph at the end of a .7 mile straight, original magazine tests showed a
150mph top speed).
Bottom line: I like the pads (though not the noise), just wish I could find
them easily and for less money.
