Re: QUESTIONS ON 5KCSTQ
Welcome, but first, turn off the SHOUTING caps lock.
I purchased new, and still have exact same vehicle, so here goes:
>1. I HAVE A PEARLESCENT WHITE 1987 5KCSTQ. I WAS TOLD WHEN I PURCHASED
THIS
CAR IN 1991 THAT IT WAS A "SPECIAL EDITION" WITH DIFFERENT WHEELS AND
INTERIOR.
DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW MANY OF THESE CARS WERE MADE IN 1987? IS IT RARE?<
I still have dealer material from that year-no mention of "Spec. Ed", but
that was the first year of the pearlescent white paint. Wheels were painted
to match. Now that you bring it up though, it is "special".
2. RECENTLY, I HAVE A NOISE IN THE CLUTCH PEDAL. I HAVE TRIED TO LUBE ALL
THE
PIVOTS AROUND THE CLEVIS AND SPRING BUT THE NOISE PREVAILS. DOES ANYONE HAVE
SUGGESTIONS?
If this is a "clicking" sound as you let the pedal up-start asking questions
about replacing the clutch.
3. THE HEATED SEAT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE STOPPED WORKING. I FOUND THE LOWER
HEATER IS OUT. I PUT A JUMPER IN AND NOW HAVE A GREAT BACK HEATER....IS
THERE
SOMEPLACE OTHER THAN AN AUDI DEALER TO GET A REPLCEMENT HEATER?
The archives have a procedure for repairing broken wire in the seat portion,
I'm gonna do mine also, one of these days. Can you give me a description on
"jumping" the back heater, its cold here in NY.
ALSO DO ALL
HEATED SEAT SYSTEMS HAVE BACK SEAT HEATERS OR IS THIS PART OF THE "SE
PACKAGE"?
SE package? Do you mean "backs" of each seat, or rear seat heat. According to
Audi lit. for that year, if you have the "heated seat option", fronts have
heated seats and backs, rear-just the seat.
4. MY CAR NEEDS A FOUR WHEEL ALIGNMENT. CAR HAS 94,000 MILES ON IT AND I
REPLACED THE TIE ROD ENDS RECENTLY. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THE SPECS ON THE
ALIGNMENT TO MAKE SURE THE MECHANIC USES THE RIGHT ONES.
Can't help with that.
5. FOR MANY YEARS I HAVE HAD AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH THE INSTRUMENT
PANEL
LIGHTS. THEY SOMETIMES REFUSE TO LIGHT. AFTER FLICKING THE LIGHT SWITCH ON
AND OFF A FEW TIMES THEY DECIDE TO LIGHT. ANY SUGGESTIONS AS TO THE PROBLEM?
I had a similar problem-I know this sounds dumb-check all you marker lights.
I found a burned out license plate bulb-replaced it-end of problem. Don't
know if it's coincidence or "german engineering".
6. FINALLY, I INSTALLED A BLAUPUNK STEREO WITH CD CHANGER IN THE TRUNK AND
HAVE HAD SOME "NOISE" FROM THE ALTERNATOR OR AT LEAST THE NOISE CHANGES PITCH
WITH ENGINE SPEED. ANY GOOD SUPPRESSION DEVICES TO "QUIET" THE ALTERNATOR?
Don't know about supp. devices, but BEFORE you look further:
I had similar problem with trunk mounted Sony changer. A direct ground wire
to the batt terminal eliminated it.
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP!!!!
Your welcome,
Mike Aiello
