Nice idea, but the European cellular system is different. Called GSM
(Global Systeme Mobile, i think), it is a TDMA digital technology similar to
(but incompatible with) the TDMA digital system Cellular One/AT&T Wireless
sells. GSM's great claim to fame, for Europe at least, was to consolidate
many different systems to one compatible system
FYI, The current US standards are called AMPS or N-AMPS (Advanced Mobile
Phone System or Narrowband-AMPS--really funny since TDMA and GSM are newer
technologies!) analog systems and TDMA digital systems. In the near future
(6mos? was supposed to be now) we should be seeing CDMA digital systems.
