Replace strut bearing with struts?

I'm bout to replace all struts on my 87 5kcsTQ with 190k miles. I'm looking
for a concensus on whether to replace strut bearings(original), regardless of
there condition, or only if "worn". Is there anything else I should have on
hand for the fronts before starting the job? Are there any parts on the rears
that I should have before doing the job?

A few months back someone posted a procedure for checking front strut
bearings. I've lost it since then, if anyone would be so kind as to repeat it
for me...I'd appreciate it.
